Nathalie Emmanuel at “Megalopolis” Red Carpet at Cannes Film Festival

Nathalie Emmanuel, the “Game of Thrones” star, made her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2024. She was there for the world premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s long-awaited film, “Megalopolis”.

Emmanuel, who has been a part of some of the biggest franchises in the world, including “Fast & Furious”, was visibly moved by the experience. “It was emotional,” she admitted, “quite overwhelming to sit in a screening with all these people, but I felt really proud of everyone involved.”

The British actress had seen the completed film a few weeks before at a private screening in London. She confessed that the first time she watched herself in anything, she was slightly hypercritical. But having been through that personal process, she was allowed to revel in the experience at Cannes.

“Megalopolis” has been a fever dream of Coppola for four decades. Emmanuel found the ideas in the film to be “so big and bold, and sometimes, above my own intellect or my own knowledge and worldview — all just so big and vast and epic.”

Emmanuel’s journey to Cannes wasn’t without its challenges. She had to learn philosophy on the fly, and memorize quotes from the ancient Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius the morning of a shoot. But she took it all in stride, saying, “The experience was a huge responsibility, and the stakes are really high. I just feel it’s a privilege to help tell this story and this vision that’s been in somebody’s head for 40 years.”

As Emmanuel continues to promote “Megalopolis”, we leave you to get inspired by Emmanuel’s journey and try to steal her look.
